Am I mean?
I just signed up my kids for summer school at the American School in Tokyo, and told them I was sending them to CAMP. Will they hate me for this? Stay tuned.....
Oh, and in response to the emails I got from friends asking how I managed to make pie two weeknights in a row, I will say this:
1) I no longer clean my house on weekdays.
2) Pre-made dough -- the greatest invention since sliced bread.
3) A soon-to-be-teenage boy who is so desperate to eat pie that he is willing to peel all the apples.
4) I no longer clean my house on weekdays. Oh, I said that already. Well, it's worth saying again.
In fact, it's worth saying thrice:
I no longer clean my house on weekdays.
This is the singlest biggest act of rebellion against the way I was raised that I have committed in my four-decades-plus of life so far.
But clean house, or PIE?
I've made my choice, and I shall live with it, and the next generation shall bear the legacy.

The one in Chofu-ku? The owner of my kindergarten works there each year for the month they run the day summer camp! I went last year for a day to have a look and it looked like fun to me!!!
I have never made a pie before (Well I have made meat pie...but never a sweet pie) but it is on my life list! Can I have you son to come peel apples for me for it?
I don`t clean my house on weekdays either. I do it with my partner every sunday (I cook, he does the plates every day, and I sweep the floor...most days ....and that is it!)

My parents did the exact same thing (sent us to "camp" at HK Int'l School) when we went there "for the summer," and we eventually forgave them for the deception...
They'll have fun - it'll be fine. :)
All I do is clean my house during the week...I never have five minutes to myself to do much else. It's overrated. Pie is better.
Pie is much better than a clean house. I'm lazy though, I don't even peel the apples - gives you more fiber is my excuse.
Did I miss something? The kids are going to Tokyo? Are YOU going to Tokyo? What about your job?
Are you going to have the summer to yourself???? Whoa. Who will help you eat Pie? haha
Pie rocks!
Housecleaning will always be around. Cooking pie with the kiddos will not...
