Fixing my CARma

He was there again last Friday, at Embarcadero --- the old Chinese man playing his erhu. At least I guess he`s Chinese, and I think it`s an erhu, though he could be from another Asian country, and he could be playing a shamisen with a bow, or some other instrument. I`m not sure.

Anyway, last time I saw him, he was playing "Jingle Bells," and I rushed right by him, even though his music made me smile. Thus, I screwed up my CARma (ooooooh, the agony of the pun, but you must understand that it`s just tooooo easy to pass that one up). Hub`s car ended up needing several hundred dollars worth of repairs that week.

This time, the old man was playing, "Oh, Susannah." I thought about stopping to at least ask him what his instrument was called.....but I was in a hurry, on my home. I ran right past him again.

That night, the "check engine" light went on in the Mazda. I wondered if it was just the cold, since it`s been a little chilly here lately, but the light stayed on all weekend. This morning, Hub brought it in to get checked out.

I`m scheduled to work again tomorrow. If I see the old man, I will be sure to stop this time --- and BEG him to please stop fucking with our cars.

Or is it just my cosmic destiny to spend everything I make at this job on car repair?

I used to drive an old piece of sh1t during my college years that scared the hell out of me.

I was so afraid of CARma, that I would talk to it sweetly, praise it when it ran, and verbally beat up anyone who put it down.

Damn if I don't sound like I was crazy. Wait, "was"?

I'm a big believe in CARma of all kinds. I would definitely stop and talk to the guy. Hope your car repairs aren't too damaging to your pocketbook!

Give the guy some money, would ya? It will be cheaper than car repairs.

Sandy.
