Home Sick Home

Hub is home sick today. That`s two words h-o-m-e, followed by s-i-c-k -- not to be confused with "homesick," the recurring theme of this blog.

He spent nearly an hour on the phone this morning, canceling and rearranging all of today`s work appointments. Then he asked me to make him a doctor`s appointment, but my own doctor is at the UCSF Women`s Health Clinic, and he can`t exactly see a pediatrician, and those are the only doctors I know.

So he found some Japanese doctor and drove all the way to San Mateo, to determine that no, he did NOT have strep -- so he must have what Little Son had. Ironic, isn`t it? I was the one who stayed up all night with Little Son when he first came down with whatever he had, and endured five hours of him practically licking my face -- and so far, I`m fine.

Then Hub went to bed, and emerged every once in a while to ask me for water, soup and medicine.

This put me in a bad mood, because it reminded me that when I do get sick (which isn`t often), no one takes care of me. No one brings me water, soup and medicine.

Why is that?

Oh, well - I suppose I should be grateful that I built up all these great immunities, taking care of everybody else.

Before I forget -- thanks, everyone, for your breastmilk comments -- I really loved them. I was amazed to hear that not only did some of you also sample it, at least one person tried to feed it to her dog.

Hope Hub feels better soon! Isn't it always the way when you get sick and there's no one around to take care of you? :)

I don't know what's worse, the fact that no one takes care of you, or that no one ever takes care of anything elee, either. nothing is more fun than finally feeling up to getting out of bed and being faced with several days worth of unwashed dishes, laundry and kids.

by the way... on the breatmilk issue, have you seen this?
