Real Life
(UPDATE: Wow, I guess I have to count this toward my allotted 15 minutes of fame.)
Whenever I read on other people`s blogs about people in the blogging community meeting in person, I can`t help but feel left out. Most of these meetings take place in other cities, so it`s not precisely a "left out" feeling -- more of a feeling that other people somewhere are leading more interesting lives, and connecting in ways in which I`m not.
I always vowed that if I did meet any blog friends, I would refrain from posting about it, to avoid making anyone out there feel the way such posts made me feel.
Well, today, for the very first time, I met a whole bunch of them at once. I`m not going to say who, because they all took photos, and I`ll likely be appearing on other people`s blogs in the near future, and don`t want to draw attention to graven images of myself.
I will say that I was very grateful to the organizers and hosts, and amazed how well we all got along -- as if we`d known each other a long time. And in a way, of course, we had -- for months, we`ve been reading about each other`s lives, our pasts, our hopes for the future.
I will also say that I went to this party immediately after a very different sort of party -- kind of an "adults only" Tupperware party. One of the moms at our Catholic school has a new side business selling sex toys and other personal products (and I can`t WAIT to check my site meter tomorrow, after writing that).
I will be blogging all about the first party, as soon as I stop blushing every time I think about it.

new mom at the catholic school bwaahayhahaha only in California!!! cant wait to read all about the first party here and the second in other places!!!
i wish i had been there
I am totally with Andrea about this one. Can't wait to read about it.
Hey, cool! I love meeting online friends in real space. I like hearing about it too...
I haven't met anyone from blog-world, but I did make a bunch of friends on forums, and met a couple of them, and talked to a lot more on the phone. Hard to meet in person when I can't really get out of the house, and my friends live in places like New Orleans and Colorado.
oh dont be a nerd, post the pictures and tell the story about the blog meeting!!!
i am far more interested in that than your sex toys party ;-)
xx
I've met several people who I first 'got to know' through Xanga, which was my first blog. Now, I can't wait until our get togethers that occur at Oakland baseball games! And you must share your site meter hits dure to that sentence!! My hits are boring all having to do with nannies.
I will post no pictures, you lovely lady. Don't worry.
Dammit, Dutch, I want pictures!
Somebody has to post pictures.
Of the second party. Not the first.
Check out Blogging Baby - no pictures but definitely names (or initials in your case).
I hope you guys had a nice tea... I will add I do not feel left out of blog-on-blog action.. as you know. I guess I have a different complex, something about the daylight falling upon magic.
A major attraction to me of blogging is all the things I might 'say' because I don't see people. This is not so easy to explain.. I do not in anyway misrepresent myself online, perhaps I am a more accurate representation in the written word than in person. If that makes any sense?
Still, who would not want to see and touch the huggable Granny. Yay!
I'll have photos of the adults and some of the kids up soon (kids whose parents already publish them).
So everyone wants to hear more about the blog party, not the sex toy party.
Okay, okay, fine.
You know that feeling, when you meet people in person, and they`re absolutely nothing like you expected?
Well, it was totally the opposite of that.
I'm going to a blog party here in Paris next week. I'm kind of nervous because I think the bloggers I'll be meeting are young and cool whereas, frankly, I am not. I mean, I blog about ducks for crying outloud.
Now as for a sex toy party, sorry, make that a CATHOLIC sex toy party....oooh la la...am looking forward to that posting.
Many photos now up. Blogger went on strike (so far as photos concerned so I still have a few I'd like to put on - maybe tomorrow if it doesn't work this time.
L. be sure to check the granny comments for a change. Uncle Roger and I have responded to yours.
I want you to know that I was very noncomittal when folks asked where you were. They really did think it was something like Tupperway and it was not I who disabused them of the notion.
I think I just got Tupperware and Amway confused.
L I just saw pics of two of the kids. they are beautiful!! And you look like my friend!!! I love you!!
Glad to hear that you had a good time! :) Can't wait to hear more stories. :)
